The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will launch a 30-day enhanced voter registration exercise targeting millions of eligible but unregistered Kenyans ahead of the 2027 general elections.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati announced the campaign will deploy mobile registration kits to rural areas, educational institutions, markets, and places of worship.

The exercise particularly targets young Kenyans who have turned 18 since the last election. With Generation Z comprising nearly 40 percent of Kenya’s voting-age population, their participation could significantly reshape the political landscape.

The IEBC has set a target of registering at least 4 million new voters during the 30-day window.
