The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers has issued fresh demands regarding the Sh38 billion agreement for junior school educators, proposing it be settled in two phases instead of four.
KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Misori argued that the four-phase implementation timeline fails to address the urgent financial needs of teachers who transitioned to the CBC structure.
TSC CEO Nancy Macharia said the phased approach was agreed upon to ensure fiscal sustainability and avoid straining the education budget.
The standoff threatens to disrupt industrial peace in the education sector. County education boards have expressed concern that renewed agitation could affect learning in junior secondary schools.
