Kenya’s Thunder basketball team is gearing up for their opening match against Dar City in the 2026 Basketball Africa League Kalahari tournament.
The squad secured their BAL berth through a dominant East African qualifier performance and has been training intensively under head coach Cliff Owuor.
“We are not going to the BAL to make up numbers. We believe we can compete with the best teams on the continent,” Owuor declared at the send-off ceremony.
Basketball’s popularity in Kenya has surged in recent years. Thunder’s participation is seen as a milestone moment, with the Kenya Basketball Federation hoping the exposure will attract sponsors and inspire the next generation.
